We’ve already got road trips to plan, the first of which is away to the part of Canada that hates the rest of Canada. By now you’ve no doubt heard the stories of how great a time everyone had last year in Montreal, and given the schedule this is the only chance you’ll get to check it out this season.

NOTE: Due to the fact that late March is still the dead of winter in Canada, this game is being held indoors at Olympic Stadium, not at Stade Saputo.

As you are undoubtedly aware, millions of people across the area have been affected by Hurricane Sandy. Homes have been flooded or washed away, electricity has been out for days, and dozens have died. It’s been a sobering reminder of what are truly the most important things in life.

While we can’t do much to bring people power or shelter, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to help our neighbors. So Wednesday at El Pastor (570 Market St. Newark), before and after the playoff game against DC, we’ll be holding a relief drive. PLEASE DONATE WHATEVER YOU CAN. So much help is needed on so many different levels, but here is a short list of what is most needed:

Bottled water
Gift cards for department stores, supermarkets and gas stations
Baby items
Toiletries
Clothing, specifically gloves, hats, coats and NEW underwear and socks
Cleaning supplies
Non-perishable food
Towels
Blankets
Pet food and supplies

Of course, money is always helpful. Any monetary donations will go to the Red Cross.

We know that a lot of you that are reading this – and those that can’t read this – are those most directly affected by the storm. We’re with you, and we’ll do whatever we can to help.

We hope everyone is coping with the storm aftermath as best you can.

In relation to the recently rescheduled playoff game this Saturday, unfortunately we will not be able to organize a bus for this game. Almost all the buses in the region are currently committed to filling in for mass transit systems in New York City, and with the short notice of the reschedule, a bus is just not feasible.

So, we’ll need to piece this together. Here’s everything you need to know:

***IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ***
– There is no Will Call option. Tickets will be emailed to you.
– If you can’t print out tickets at home and you can’t find someone or somewhere to have them printed, they should be able to read the barcode from a smartphone. But please make every effort to print your ticket as not all phones can be scanned.
– The link and promo code are good until 2pm on Saturday. Any tickets needed after that time will have to be purchased at the the main box office at RFK. They will cost an additional $5.

As for getting down to the game, we’re looking mostly at carpooling. We’ll set up a thread on our Facebook group for drivers and passengers to come together, and on our end we’ll do our best to make sure it stays organized.

Try to be at RFK for check-in by 6:30pm. Red Bulls supporters parking is in Lot 3, and parking costs $15. Alternatively, there may be train options through Amtrak, or bus options via BoltBus and the like.

The last bust trip of the season is the last road game of the regular season. It’s also the last game of the season, and it’s against those Johnny-come-latelys down in Chester. So it will be a very nice way to close out Philly’s season and wish them a long, cold, miserable, playoff-less winter. And if it turns out that we get the #1 seed in East by stomping them out, all the better.

DO NOT WAIT TO GET IN ON THIS! We always travel well to Philly, and with our limited ticket allocation, this is going to get full in a hurry.

The Summer of Many Bus Trips continues on September 22nd with a trip up north to visit New England. We’ve got the deal set up for you with a bus and a ticket, and New England security will thoughtfully provide pepper spray free of charge when we arrive. It’s $45 for a ticket and a ride up-and-back ($55 for non-members).
